It’s been a few weeks since I published my first book, and what a whirlwind it has been. I released an abridged ebook version on my birthday, which was thrilling and nerve-wracking. One piece of advice that stuck with me throughout this process was, “You have to dig deeper.” To truly embrace this, I had to reopen scars I thought had long healed.
Writing this book started in college when life was vastly different. Approximately 75% of the content was written before marriage and children when my thoughts and emotions were raw and unfiltered. Revisiting these old writings meant immersing myself in a past I had tucked away, believing those chapters of my life were closed.
Months were spent reading my old writings, rewriting, and editing. Each page was a trip down memory lane, filled with pain and joy. It was an intense process of reflection and transformation, turning old wounds into a narrative that I hope resonates with readers.
The reception has been overwhelmingly positive, for which I am incredibly grateful. Yet, despite the kind words and support, I find myself teetering between nervousness and relief. The book is out in the world, a piece of my soul exposed to everyone. It's a vulnerable place to be but also a liberating one.
Reflecting on this experience, I'm reminded of the power of storytelling and the importance of embracing our past. This journey has not only been about sharing my story but also about personal growth and healing.
With gratitude and a dash of courage,
